Cup coral

Turbinaria Sp.

The Cup coral is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral. It gets the name cup or pagoda from the way it grows, forming a plate/cup shaped surface. They are a beautiful corals that will extend their polyps out when the water quality is good, they require moderate maintenance.

The cup coral is peaceful and will not bother any other inhabitants placed near it. It will do best at the bottom to middle of a reef aquarium. It does best under high lighting but it isn’t too important with moderate to high water movement within the aquarium. For continued good health, it will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.

The cup coral will benefit from regular feedings of micro-plankton, small brine shrimp or filter feeding additives.
