The Tongan mushroom is possibly the hardiest soft coral available for home aquaria, they reproduce quite quickly and will completely cover the rock work forming a carpet of mushrooms; it is low maintenance and doesn’t require any additives or specialist care. Under white light the Tongan can appear drab, but under actinic lighting it glows green
The Tongan mushroom will live in most water conditions, but does best at the bottom to middle of the aquarium with a low to medium water flow; they are semi aggressive and should be allowed space to expand.
The Tongan mushroom photosynthesizes most of its energy requirements, but it will also feed off of other nutrients and particles in the water column.
