Redfin Borleyi Cichlid
Copadichromis borleyi
The Red Kadango Cichlid is a stunning fish from the south of Lake Malawi in Africa. The colouration of this fish varies between sexes, with the female more drab in appearance and the male has a dark blue body with red face.
The Kadango Cichlid requires a tank of at least 280 litres or more with plenty of rocks for territories and a gravel substrate, the gravel should be dark to reduce e glare as the borleyi prefers more subdued lighting. The Kadango is an aggressive fish and as such should only be housed with other aggressive cichlids; it is not suitable for a community setup
The Kadango Cichlid will accept flake foods, but live foods like blood worm, and vegetarian foods like nori and algae wafers should be offered to ensure a healthy diet.
Red Kadango's can be bred in the home aquarium. They are mouth brooders with the female carrying the fry for around 3 - 4 weeks.
