Duboisi Cichlid

Tropheus Duboisi

The Tropheus Duboisi is a Cichlid from Lake Tanganika. The Duboisi is an aggressive cichlid towards others of its own species so should be kept in groups of 6 or more preferably in a species aquarium.

The Duboisi Cichlid requires a tank of at least 200 litres or more with plenty of rocks for territories and a gravel substrate planted with hardy plants, as with most cichlids, they are prolific redecorators and will arrange plants how they see fit. The duboisi should be kept with its own kind or with other aggressive Malawi or Tanganyika cichlids.

The Duboisi Cichlid will accept a variety of vegetarian foods. A quality flake and tablet food containing vegetable matter should also be included in their diet.

The Duboisi is hard to breed in the home aquarium. They are mouth brooders with the females carrying the eggs for around 28 days. During spawning time, the pair will become aggressive towards any fish in their territory
