Asian Bumblebee Catfish

Pseudomystus siamensis

The Asian Bumblebee catfish, should not be confused with the South American Bumblebee catfish which grows to a much smaller maximum size. The fish is a dark brown colour with light brown vertical stripes running across its body.

This catfish grows quite large, and therefore will need a reasonable sized aquarium. It is a generally peaceful fish, but can sometimes prove to be predatory, so it must only be housed with other fish large enough not to be eaten.

They are relatively undemanding fish and are normally nocturnal. Once they have settled into a tank however, they will become more active during the day. In the settling down period, however, they will require spaces in which to hide.

The fish will accept cichlid or catfish pellets along with bloodworms, tubifex and earthworms when offered. It will co-exist well with Larger peaceful cichlids, Plecos, Large angel fish and large barbs.
