Golden Rudd

Scardinus erythrophthalmus

The Golden Rudd is Common in the south east of England, but will survive anywhere in the UK. Rudd are hardy fish that prefer still waters with plenty of weeds and reed beds.

The ideal habitat for the Golden Rudd is a pond of at least 500 gallons. Adequate filtration should be provided in order to maintain proper water conditions.

Rudd feed on insects on the surface of the water, so can be seen in the summer at the surface, they also feed on plant matter.

Before adding your new fish to your pond, we highly recommend quarantining them for two weeks. This will allow you to observe and condition the new fish before introducing them into the display pond.
