Sarasa
Carassius auratus
The sarasa as with all goldfish is originally from China but is now sold world-wide. The sarasa is a hardy fish, and is a nice red and white random patterned colour.
The ideal habitat for the sarasa is a pond of at least 140 gallons, roughly 1metre x 1.2metres x 0.5 metres with a gravel substrate, rocks, and hearty plants. They like to eat the roots of plants and will dig to get to them, so provide large rocks around the base of the plants to protect them. Adequate filtration should be provided in order to maintain proper water conditions.
sarasa should be fed a quality pellet or flake food that has no more than 30% protein.
Before adding your new fish to your pond, we highly recommend quarantining them for two weeks. This will allow you to observe and condition the new fish before introducing them into the display pond
