Auriga Butterflyfish

Chaetodon auriga

The Auriga Butterfly is an attractive popular and easy to find marine fish. It is a hardy example of the butterfly species, and can be aggressive towards other butterflys, if you plan on keeping more than one you should introduce them simultaneously to a large tank.

It requires a tank of 300 litres or more with plenty of rock work for grazing. The Auriga is not reef compatible and will pick at shrimps, sponges, corals and clams. The Auriga is not a fussy eater, and will readily accept flake, fresh and frozen meat
