Black Back Butterflyfish

Chaetodon melannotus

The Black Back Butterfly is a striking, relatively peaceful fish that is easy to keep. It can be kept with other peaceful that aren't similar looking, but should only be housed singularly unless in a mated pair.

It requires a tank of 200 litres or more with plenty of rock work and hiding places. The Black Back butterfly is not suited to a reef aquarium as it will eat soft and stony corals, their natural food source in the wild. It should be fed a varied diet of marine foods including, brine shrimp and chopped fish
