Copperband Butterflyfish

Chelmon rostratus

The Copperband Butterfly is a dazzling, popular but hard to keep marine fish. The problems arise with this fish in getting them to feed. The Copperband should only be housed with other similar fish if it is in a mated pair.

It requires a tank of 300 litres or more with plenty of rock work to graze on to stimulate feeding and hiding places for when startled. The Copperband is not reef compatible and will pick at sponges and soft polyps. The Copperband can be a fussy eater so it should be fed a varied diet until you find something that it will readily eat. They are often used for the removal of aiptasia and other pest anemones.
