Longnose Butterflyfish

Forcipiger flavissimus

The Yellow Longnose Butterfly is a remarkable, relatively peaceful fish that is more difficult to keep due to its feeding habits. It can be kept with other peaceful that aren't similar looking, but should only be housed singularly unless in a mated pair.

It requires a tank of 300 litres or more with plenty of rock work to eat amphipods from and hiding places. The Yellow Longnose butterfly is suited to a reef aquarium as it will not eat soft or stony corals. It should be fed a varied diet of marine foods including, brine shrimp and chopped fish and other frozen preparations
