Sergeant Major Damselfish
Abudefduf saxatilis
The Sergeant Major Damselfish a very hardy fish often used for breaking in tanks. Best kept in schools when younger, but become aggressive towards each other and similar species when older.
The Sergeant Major Damselfish requires a tank of 200 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places. Sergeant Major Damselfish are reef safe and will not eat any corals or shrimps although they may graze on certain algae. They usually adapt well to frozen and even dried foods, but should be supplemented with meaty foods like brine shrimp and crustacean flesh as well as herbivorous foods like Nori.
