Yellow Damselfish
Amblyglyphidodon aureus
The Yellow Damselfish is a great fish for beginners as it is hardy and also a vivid colour. Best kept in pairs or as sole adults when adults in a relatively aggressive aquarium as they become increasingly aggressive, as juveniles they can e kept in schools with few problems.
The Yellow Damselfish requires a tank of 90 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places. Yellow Damselfish are reef safe and will not eat any corals or shrimps, but will eat filamentous algae if present. They usually adapt well to frozen and even dried foods, but should be supplemented with meaty foods like brine shrimp and crustacean flesh as well as herbivorous foods like Nori.
