Purple Firefish
Nemateleotris decora
The Purple Firefish is one of the most eye catching and unique looking fish as well as having a high tolerance to disease making it popular to both the experienced and beginner aquarist alike. Best kept individually or in a mated pair as it can be territorial with its own kind, and similar species.
It requires a tank of 90 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places, coral rubble and a sandy bottom. It is peaceful with most other fish. The purple firefish is reef compatible showing no interest in corals or shrimps. They usually adapt well to frozen and even dried foods, but benefit from the addition of some vegetable material like Nori.
These fish are jumpers so a tight fitting lid is required
