Coral Hogfish

Bodianus Mesothorax

The Coral Hogfish is a great community aquarium fish. Best kept individually, once fully adjusted to the aquarium, this is a bold, curious species whose personality may be too much for overly passive fish, although not considered aggressive.

It requires a tank of 300 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places. Most dwarf angels are algal grazers, but also eat small non-sessile invertebrates, like brine shrimp and mysis. They usually adapt well to frozen and even dried foods, but benefit from the addition of some vegetable material like Nori.

As a juvenile the coral hog fish will act as a cleaner feeding off parasites, once it has attained its adult colouration it is not a fussy eater and will eat flake food, brine shrimp, and other common marine foods.

Approximate Purchase Size: Adult Medium 4cm - 6cm, Adult Large 8cm - 10cm
