Peacock Lionfish

Pterois volitans

The Peacock Lionfish or Volitan Lionfish is one of the most easy to keep of the lionfish, making it popular to all. Best kept singularly in smaller tanks or in groups in larger tanks of more than 400 litres. The Volitan Lionfish can grow quite large and should be provided with plenty of swim room

It requires a tank of 200 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places to help it acclimatize. ThePeacock Lionfish isn't aggressive towards smaller more active fish, but may eat slower moving specimens. The Volitan won't show any interest in corals but may eat shrimps and small slow fish. They usually adapt to prepared foods, but benefit from being fed live feeder fish to entice them to eat. Bolder than other lions it is perhaps the hardiest and easiest to feed of all available

Approximate Purchase Size: Medium 4cm - 6cm, Large 8cm - 10cm
