The Stars and stripe puffer is a popular puffer in the aquarium trade, best kept individually as it will be intolerant of other stars and stripes, although it can be housed with other puffers
It requires a tank of 400 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places as it is a very shy fish when first introduced, becoming bolder the longer it has settled in for. This puffer isn’t reef compatible as it will eat small shrimps and crabs, this is necessary in order to keep its beak won down. They usually adapt well to frozen foods but benefit from the addition of meaty foods like clams and prawns
