Pacific Blue Tang
Paracanthurus hepatus
The Blue Tang is popular with beginner and experienced aquarists alike due to its deep rich blue colouring. Can be kept in groups when younger but should be housed individually when older unless in a large aquarium.
It requires a tank of 400 litres or larger with plenty open water for it to swim in and live rock to graze on. Tangs will eat meaty foods, but should also be supplemented with vegetarian matter like Nori to keep them healthy. They usually adapt well to frozen and even dried foods, but benefit from the addition of some vegetable material like Nori.
Approximate Purchase Size: Small 2cm - 4cm, Medium 4cm - 6cm, Large 10cm -12cm
