ClownFish Anemone

Heteractis Malu

The Clown Fish Anemone is one of the most common anemones found in the aquarist trade; it can have different coloured tips, white, green, and purple. Best kept individually as they can be aggressive towards other anemones.

It requires a mature tank of at least 9 months and a size of 200 litres or larger with plenty of rockwork for it to perch on. This anemone requires bright lighting, and will move itself to the optimum location in the aquarium. Placing a clownfish in the aquarium will help it acclimatize. The anemone is reef compatible, but may sting corals when moving, it has been known to eat small fish when underfed. They usually adapt well to frozen foods once established and should be fed a mixture of fish, clams and other meaty preparations every other day.
