Banded Coral Shrimp

Stenopus hispidus

The Banded coral shrimp is an interesting shrimp to watch in the home aquarium holding its claws up in a boxing pose. They should only be housed singularly or in a true mated pair as they are intolerant of other boxing shrimps.

It requires a tank of 120 litres or larger with plenty of rockwork, but also unrestricted walking room. The Banded shrimp isn't entirely reef compatible as it sometimes will attack cleaner shrimps, crabs and sometimes will open up corals and anemones to eat their contents. A natural scavenger they are self sufficient in the home aquarium, but will accept any marine preparations

The Banded Coral shrimp, like all inverts is intolerant to any copper based medications
